This birdhouse pendant was sculpted out of precious metal clay (fine silver). It hangs from a thick rolo chain accented with a handmade glass bead, a volcanic disc bead, smaller glass beads and pearls.
I have been taking classes at the Sawtooth Center in Winston-Salem for over 15 years. I started out in ceramics and moved into metals and glass. In 2003, I took a course in glass mosaics and pate-de-verre (molding glass paste) at Penland School of Arts and Crafts. My instructors were KeKe Cribbs and Alicia Lomnne.
Most recently, I took a workshop with Robert Dancik in the metals studio at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. I learned about using alternative materials in making jewelry and sculpture.
I am an artist with Whimsical Women and a member of the Sawtooth Center. Suzi's jewelry is sold at Art & Artifacts in Blowing Rock, NC and at Just Be in Greensboro, NC.
